Living Free Home Installs Commercial Ramp for a New Jersey School Building

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides certain guidelines to prevent discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places. When it comes to school buildings, ADA requires that all classrooms are wheelchair accessible with installation of an elevator in two-storied school buildings. Wheelchair ramps and handicapped parking are also required to facilitate access to school buildings. Living Free Home, a leading accessibility solutions provider serving the New Jersey, New York Metro, Philadelphia and Boston areas, recently assisted a school building in New Jersey with commercial ramp installation, which helped them meet the ADA’s accessibility requirements.

The client wanted us to provide a perfect solution that would make their school building wheelchair accessible. Our team of technicians installed a commercial aluminum wheelchair ramp for this client. This above-ground installation with a full 48″ wide ramp between the inner handrails meets all relevant codes. Its outside dimension is 54″.

Features such as continuous inner hand rails, 4″ on center aluminum picket’s full length of ramp, 5′ resting platform on long section of ramp for safe resting area, and under mount legs that allow for a decorative skirting to be put in place also provide further safety for users.

Living Free Home is experienced in providing clients with the right customized accessibility solution. Our team is well-versed in all necessary regulations and ensures that the client’s project will not face any sort of delays.

Our aluminum ramp series features multi-weld fabrication process that ensures less deflection of the ramp surface. Its code-compliant mesh design allows natural drainage, and is small enough to prevent small objects from passing through.
